Behind the Curtain - Come From Away (Seattle Rep)

It's been 10 years since the hit musical Come From Away hit the stage at Seattle Rep on its way to Broadway. Since then, the musical, which combines unique staging, Newfoundland-inspired folk music, and a story that resonates with anyone looking for light in a dark world, has gone from Broadway to the touring, and is now available for presentation on regional stages. The Rep has jumped on that opportunity and is staging a new reimagining of the musical it helped to make famous. This new production, which opens in previews November 28, is directed by Brandon Ivie, who joins us in our latest episode of Behind the Curtain with The Sound on Stage.

Brandon talks about being an LA-based director, though his PNW roots are strong, putting together a show in Seattle, and how he has employed the same successful style he put into pieces such as Lizard Boy. He dives deep into this particular production and how what he is presenting retains the heart of the original while attacking the story from a fresh perspective.
