Behind the Curtain - Parmida Ziaei

If you've attended a play or musical in Seattle this season, it's more than likely that one of the sets you've seen was designed by Parmida Ziaei. Parmida is an Iranian multidisciplinary artist based here in Seattle and has been quite busy designing for The Bed Trick (Seattle Shakespeare), The Fantasticks (Village Theatre), Stew (ACT), and The Cast for the Existence of God (ACT), among others. What you may not know is that she is co-founder of Seda Iranian Theatre Ensemble, and her two worlds came together recently in a collaboration with ArtsWest, English.

Parmida took time out of her busy schedule to go Behind the Curtain with us to talk about Seda, English, her design philosophy and process, and other things including the current state of the arts culture in her native Iran.

For more information about Parmida, her website is https://www.parmidaziaei.com/, and to learn more about Seda, visit https://www.sedatheatre.com/.
